Dr Richard Burgdorf is the Laboratory Manager for the ICFR analytical and research laboratory facilities, contributing to research projects that utilise these services. Routine laboratory tests include soil and plant nutrient analysis. In addition, he coordinates method development for research projects, such as the use of near infrared technology for rapid diagnosis in forestry applications, including soil and plant nutrient status and wood properties. Key responsibilities include managing the routine analytical laboratory and sample preparation operations, research and development of laboratory-based projects, managing laboratory staff and resources and maintenance of laboratory facilities and equipment. In addition, he is responsible for developing and implementing appropriate laboratory policy and procedure, while ensuring compliance with safety legislation.
